Illustration projects offer me a different type of creative outlet. The occasional opportunity to create illustrations, shoot photos, assemble photo montages, or create mixed media pieces that support a written message is fun and challenging

The written piece I created this for was a short fictional story about a soldier hiding in hot, tall, dry, grasshopper-infested grass during Custer’s last stand. I took a photo of a friend’s hand in tall, dry grass and used it for reference for the drawing.

The poem I was asked to illustrate was by a poet dealing with cancer who was getting a lot of advice from friends and family. The visuals in the montage are pulled from his descriptions of the advice and his thoughts about them.

The written piece I created this for was a short fictional story about a wedding in New York City, and the bride’s father being deceased, so unable to walk her down the aisle.

This was for a short fictional story about a young boy trying to find the courage to jump off a bridge into the river below. I took the photos out on location and served as my own model.
